Abstract
The evaluation of ureteral lithiasis seems to be necessarily performed by means of different kind of studies some with use of ionizing-rays. The authors present their experience in the study of distal ureter lithiasis by means transrectal ultrasound approach. The patients presented acute ureteral colic or a serious suspect of localization of a calculus in the lower tract of the ureter. The authors report the results and compare them with those obtained with other techniques (traditional suprapubic ultrasonography, plan X-ray of abdomen and urography). The authors found that sensibility and specificity of this kind of approach is similar to the results of intravenous pyelography with less cost, less risks for the patient and a more rational distribution of work in conventional radiology section.
