Abstract
With transillumination of breasts the authors studied the opacities projected on the skin by normal and pathological structures. The transillumination technique was carried out in association with mammography and thermography in 2500 patients. Analyzing the results obtained and associating transillumination with mammography and thermography, it can be concluded that survey transillumination is useful in the differential diagnosis of the following diseases: carcinomas, dystrophic diseases, duct papillomata, and trauma. Since transillumination of breasts is harmless and provides relevant data, it is recommended as a routine examination in the study of breast pathology.
