Abstract
The determination of toluene in urine was carried out in 26 subjects occupationally exposed to toluene (median value: 85.48 mg/m3) in a chemical factory. Measurement of toluene was performed by means of a Gas Chromatography equipped with a Mass Selective Detector. The analyses were performed by the headspace method (constant volume method after determination of the urine air partition coefficient). A significant correlation was found between the environmental toluene concentration (C(I)- mg/m3) and the urinary toluene concentrations (Cu, μg/I) (Cu=0.672 . C(I)- + 0.4266; r = 0.865).
