Abstract

In rabbits with allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) there was some evidence of alterations in the lipids content, cellular morphology and blood flow, in the pituitary dependent regions of the adrenal cortex. These changes appear typical of the 'general adaptation syndrome' to stress as described by Selye. The presence of these modifications led to the hypothesis that, during EAE, there is no decrease in the ACTH production.
