Abstract

The bone secondary lesions nowadays are diagnosed early because of the improvement of the diagnostic tools in the follow-up. In this paper we present the results concerning the improvement of the quality of life of 57 patients submitted to surgery for metastatic bone lesions. The operations performed were: osteosynthesis in 35 cases (including spine instrumentation), endoprothesis in 10, amputation in 3 cases and palliative in 2 cases. The evaluation criteria concerned walking ability, function for the upper limb, and pain. The results showed that at 3 months follow-up in 18 cases of femural fracture pain was absent, in 10 cases good articular function and walking were detected, and only 2 cases showed no improvement; the humeral and the spine fractures obtained similar results.
