Abstract

In Sipple's syndrome the combination of medullary thyroid carcinoma and pheochromocytoma causes problems in choosing and timing the different surgical options. If the malignancy is located in the thyroid, then priority must be given to the adrenals due to possible cardiovascular complications. The case described in this paper was treated by single-step surgery with bilateral adrenelectomy followed by total thyroidectomy and functional lymph node dissection in the neck.
