Abstract

A case of semicircular lipoatrophy in a 27-year-old man is described. The dermatosis was characterized by the presence of two horizontal and symmetrical depressions localized to the anterior surface of the thighs. General physical examination, laboratory tests and instrumental investigations were normal. Ecography showed a reduction in thickness of the subcutaneous tissue. The almost complete disappearance of the lesions was observed within two months. Literature analysis revealed that semicircular lipoatrophy is a rare disorder which almost exclusively occurs in the female sex. Our case represents the fourth male patient described so far.
