Abstract
In a case study of a 12 year old boy referred for scholastic deterioration lasting almost 3 years, EEG reveals a discontinuous Petit Mal Status. Paroxystic activity is interrupted with diazepam; EEG normalizes after a 2-month treatment with sodium valproate. Neuropsychological tests show significant improvement after treatment. An unknown Petit Mal Status with steady academic deterioration as single expression is thus hypothesized.
