Abstract
In the last few years the attention of the scientific community involved in the study of cardiovascular diseases has been focused on the control and treatment of the main cardiovascular risk factors. Interestingly attention is being paid to the clustering of risk factors in high-risk subjects, a concept often overlooked by physicians. To improve awareness on this issue guidelines may provide an adequate support. In this review we have analyzed the most recent guidelines in the field of coronary heart disease prevention through to the control of two main risk factors: hypercholesterolemia and hypertension.
