Abstract

Fast EEG activity was studied on 5 healthy volunteers 12 hr after administration of single doses of 4 different sleep inducing drugs: pentobarbital 100 mg, chlordiazepoxide 25 mg, nitrazepam 10 mg and flurazepam 30 mg. All the drugs studied, except for flurazepam, induced a significant increase in fast EEG activity. This increase is a reliable parameter in evaluating the persisting activity of some sleep inducing drugs on CNS.
