Abstract

Neoplastic cachexia is a complex and multifactorial syndrome able to affect drug efficacy mainly in elderly oncological patient in relation both to organ insufficiencies and to comorbidities. Use of antitumoural drugs in this phase of disease, particularly in elderly patients, is extremely complicated because of the clear implications on the quality of residual life. In such context a good knowledge of both pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics can be of great help in decision-making procedure.
