Abstract
Percutaneous placement of central venous catheters, causing a direct lesion of the lung parenchyma, is a remarkable cause of iatrogenic pneumothorax, the incidence of which is approximately 1 to 4%. Clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment guidelines of iatrogenic pneumothorax complicating central venous access placement are presented.
