Abstract

A replicative/predictive model has been obtained by enhancing consolidated chromatographic knowledge. Such a model has been implemented in Java language to offer a platform-independent tool to support a virtual laboratory approach, both for didactic purposes and for experimental design in research. A description of the model in terms of data organization and basic algorithm is reported, as well as a summary of the program structure and layout. The program has been tested by examining gradient elution HPLC simulations against expected trends and by comparing results with some experimental data already obtained. A beta version of the program is available on request to be used in PC, Macintosh, or UNIX environments supporting Java tools. An MS-Excel97™ sheet is also available for separate algorithm test.
