Abstract

Malnutrition is a severe complication attended in patients with chronic liver disease. Its importance in clinical practice is related to the capability in determining other serious complications that negatively could influence the prognosis of these patients. For this reason here we want point out the importance of a global nutritional assessment in cirrhotic patients intended to define nutritional state and food intake. Definition f these parameters could help us to recognize malnourished patients and to better describe the strategy for nutritional treatment. In patients with chronic liver disease malnutrition is recommended to be diagnosed using midarm muscle area (MAMA) and midarm fat area (MAFA) and values
