N2 - There is therefore evidence that in several degenerative disorders the bnM is primarily involved, and that the extent of the damage is proportional to the intensity of the pathological process. Thus there ensues the possibility of using bnM as an index of the disease's severity in these cases, all the more so, because, on account of its relatively small dimensions, its modifications are easily quantifiable with simple and fast methods. In our opinion, the possibility merits a deeper critical study, researching more accurate correlations between damage to the nucleus and the clinical, neuropathological and biochemical aspects of the diseases in which it is primarily involved.
