Abstract
The formation of multinucleated erythropoietic cells was studied by means of phase-contrast cinemicrography of irradiated spleen cultures of Triton Molge vulgaris L. Giant cells with three or more nuclei were formed after mitotic arrest in metaphases, anaphases and telophases in which chromosomes were arranged in three or more groups and cytokinesis failed to divide the cells. The role of lesions of mitotic apparatus in the formation of multinucleated cells is emphasized.
