Abstract
We analysed cortical excitability in 17 patients with progressive myoclonus epilepsy by means of several neurophysiological ťechniques. The applied tests, including SSEP, long-loop reflex and transcranial magnetic stimulation were able to detect in 16 cases signs of abnormal excitability involving somatosensory or motor cortex. In four cases, topiramate (TPM) induced a significant clinical improvement that corresponded to normalisation of neurophysiological findings.
