Abstract

The Authors of this survey evaluated the variation of the muscle tone, by the computerized pendulum test, associated with an EMG surface measurement, which allows a better examination and a wider collection of information relevant to the characteristics of the stretching phasic reflex. 30 hemiplegic patients were examined: 10 out of them could be included in the 'normotonic' group, 10 in the 'surface hypertonic' group and 10 in the 'persistent flaccid' group. The achieved results show that this method provides a greater accuracy in measurements, a standardization of the analysis procedures and a memorization of data, thus allowing to carry out subsequent controls after both the pharmacological and the rehabilitative treatments.
