Abstract

The mechanism by which lithium exerts its therapeutic and prophylactic action in affective disorders is not known. Recent studies have shown that lithium is an inhibitor of different hormone-stimulated adenylate cyclases. It was found that lithium inhibits dopamine-sensitive adenylate cyclase from rat caudate nucleus.
