Abstract
A programme for the study and classification of cutaneous affections was carried out in 1993 by the Plastic Surgery Divion of the University of Genoa, utilising the Windows operative system. It was necessary to establish close collaboration between clinicians and informatic experts in order to satisfy medical requirements and to find adequate solutions able to resolve any problems which arose in such a programme. A second programme for classification, treatment and follow-up of mammary pathologies was set up in 1994. The year 1996 saw the compilation of the present day system of patients' note management.
