Abstract
The authors describe physiopathologic hypothesis that justify the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in order to prevent the evolution of the diabetic retinopathy. In theory, the hyperbaric oxygen therapy may cause some complications as tessutale damage potentially induced by the oxygen itself; so the authors propose the use of this therapy only in clinical situations in which it is absolutely necessary.
