Abstract
The results of 85 femoral lengthening treated with monoaxial external fixator G3 IOR are reported. The results have been evaluated examining time of consolidation, knee range of motion, residual femoral discrepancy. A perfect bone healing in 75 cases has been obtained while another surgical procedure was carried out in the other 10 cases. The device was removed at an average follow-up of 5 months. The technique is based on the two principles of gradual and progressive distraction and of non-reattack of lengthening site. The wide osteotomy permitted good results also in adult patients. The G3 IOR apparatus was preferred since it has an atraumatic axial regulation system.
