Abstract
Background: Thinning of the temporo-parietal cortex is associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer's disease (AD). In AD patients, an increase in EEG upper/low alpha power ratio has been associated with MCI and with atrophy of the temporo-parietal brain areas. Moreover, subjects with a higher alpha3/alpha2 frequency power ratio showed a lower brain perfusion than low alpha3/alpha2 subjects. The two groups have significantly different hippocampal volume and a correlation with the theta frequency activity was found.
