Abstract
The effects of macular grid photocoagulation on VEP and PERG have been evaluated in a group of 6 diabetic patients. The fluorescein angiography has shown a reduction of the edema in 5 out of 6 eyes treated (the second eye of each patient has been used as control). The amplitude and latency of VEP have been unchanged while the amplitude of wave AN1P1 of PERG has greatly improved. The likely purport of these results in relation to the improvement in the local metabolic condition of the edema is still under discussion.
