Abstract

Contrast-enhanced helical CT (CEHCT) was compared with contrast-enhanced harmonic power Doppler (HPD) or intermittent grey-scale phase inversion Doppler harmonic imaging (PIDHI) in the assessment of residual viable tumor. Nine hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) in 9 patients treated with either percutaneous cool-tip radiofrequency (RF) ablation or transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) were evaluated with HPD and intermittent grey-scale PIDHI following 1.2 ml bolus injection of Sonovue. Sonographic results were compared with three-phase, CEHCT performed 24 hours after ultrasonography.
