Abstract
Poor metabolic control is often considered a risk factor for the occurrence of glomerular hyperfiltration and incipient nephropathy in diabetes mellitus. Little is known about the clinical progression of diabetic renal complications. Plasma protein and blood rheology changes might influence glomerular function in diabetics with overt nephropathy. With this background, the aim of this study was to evaluate plasma protein patterns and several hemorrheological factors, in type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetics with normal renal function and overt nephropathy.
