Abstract
The Authors examine the different definitions of giant naevus they found in literature, and then take into consideration the different opinions about its malignant degeneration. Afterwards they expose the difficulties of the surgical therapy, both excisional and reconstructive. They present the experience of the Department of Plastic Surgery of the Hospital Bambino Gesu (Rome) concerning the modern techniques of skin expansion.
