Abstract

Combination chemotherapy with adriamycin and 5-Fluorouracil was employed in 23 patients with locally advanced and/or metastatic bladder carcinoma. a 35% response rate was encountered with minimal toxicity. local disease responded in six/nine patients. this regimen appears worth considering with palliative purpose in patients unable to tolerate a cis-platinum-containing combination. evaluation of chemotherapy as first treatment in locally advanced bladder carcinoma seems warranted.
