Abstract

The effect of carotid endarterectomy on blood flow velocities of the main orbital arteries was evaluated. Ipsilateral eyes of 40 consecutive patients with significant stenosis of internal carotid artery (ICA) were studied by color Doppler imaging (CDI) pre- and post-operatively. Peak systolic velocity, and diastolic velocity and resistive index of ophthalmic, central retinal and posterior ciliary arteries were recorded to comparison.
