Abstract

Contrast-enhanced sonography represents a non invasive method to the detection and characterization of focal liver lesions. Its sensitivity is comparable to computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. CEUS may even play an important role for liver focal biopsy. Its safeness, reproducibility and cost effectivness make this an important diagnostic tool even in the elderly.
