Abstract

We describe 5 children presenting partial epilepsy with epileptic global or segmental falls; clinical EEG and radiologic features indicate partial idiopathic epilepsy. Epileptic falls appear as brief atonic seizures on polygraphic recordings. The evolution is good for epilepsy and neuropsychological development, but mild cognitive problems remain. We emphasize the importance of polygraphic study for the diagnosis and favourable outcome of epileptic falls in partial idiopathic epilepsy.
