Abstract
We report the first case of breakage of a teflon biliary stent. The stent, positioned for a pancreatic cancer, fractured four months later at the level of the side holes. The Authors hypotesize that teflon stiffness and the presence of side holes 'a weak area' contributed to stent breakage. The results of ongoing randomized trials Will better define the probability of this unusual complication. An accurate review of the existing literature is performed.
