Abstract
In a series of 197 eyes treated with panretinal photocoagulation for preproliferative and proliferative diabetic retinopathy there were secondary hemorrhages in 33 cases (16,8%). The possible factor involved in hemorrhagic recurrence were investigated by a case-control retrospective study. The higher bleeding incidence was found in non-insulin dependent diabetics with over 10 years of disease, without relationship with the type of new vessels (disc or elsewhere).
