Abstract
Data referring to bone maturation in 21 subjects suffering from Legg-Calve-Perthes disease are reported. Bone age in the knee according to Roche et al. (RWT) method and in the hand-wrist according to Tanner et al. (TW2-20 bones) and Greulich and Pyle (GP) method proved to be retarded in both areas. Since an X-ray of the lower extremity will already have been taken in subjects affected by this disease, it is suggested that the bone age of the knee be determined in addition to that of the hand-wrist, in order to have a more global and more harmonious assessment in so far as the knee is closer to the affected bone area.
