Abstract

This study involved obese children with normal glucose tolerance and obese children with reduced glucose tolerance. The two pulse rapid arginine stimulation test administered intravenously revealed a significantly reduced insulin response in obese children with chemical diabetes. No significant differences between the two groups were elicited with slow arginine infusions with or without a preparatory infusion of glucose.
