Abstract
The curves obtained from selective surveys on growth, carried out in several Italian Regions, coincided reasonably well, with the exception of those referring to the Sardinian population and to some age groups in Campania. On the basis of these observations and of other considerations, described more in detail in the text, we think it possible to use the following standards until reliable growth charts of the Italian population as a whole are available: the British growth charts up to the age of six, and the ones based on the Tuscan population from six to eighteeen. It will be necessary to add another curve below the third centile to the second standard, plotted according the third centile of the Sardinian population.
