Abstract

Report of a case of active chronic hepatitis in a girl 5 years, with presence of microsomial antibodies with a high titer and of nuclear antibodies. Immunological examination revealed a reduced response to all mitogenic lectins studied (PHA, Con A and PMW). Clinically, the disease over a period of 18 months was transformed from a histologically aggressive type B form to a macronodular form that was hemodynamically compensated and caused no signs of hepatocellular insufficiency. At the time of writing, the patient was still being treated with corticosteroids and azathioprine.
